Girls Rugby
We have had our inaugural kick off of the Under 14’s and Under 17’s girls rugby
competitions in our junior ranks. This has been a huge success for us at
RugbyWA Juniors and RugbyWA, with a huge increase in girls playing rugby in our
state.
This is a large focus for us in the coming years with it being the fastest growing
sport in the world.
Any club that is interested in creating a girls team and/or program can get in
contact with me. RugbyWA have a number of resources than can be used to
facilitate this

Western Force Community Engagement
A large part of the professional teams’ focus has been on giving back to the
community that has given the team so much in the past. This has been pushed
hard by all involved and so far has produced a large increase in Western Force
player appearances at Junior Events. In total for 2016 we have had over 45 visits
to clubs with more to come in the coming weeks.
This will continue to be pushed so Clubs are encouraged to continue to request
visits for any event they feel appropriate.

RugbyWA Juniors Competition – Key Issues
Thus Far
1. Coaches not remaining in their Tech Zones during matches – Don’t risk your points, we
all know the rules and why they are
there
2.
Rugbylink team input. Majority of clubs need a reminder to enter team lists post the
stated timeline. The continuing increase in use of RugbyLink will cause this to be a
significant problem.
3.
Regrade points issues. Regraded teams receive the median points on the table in their
entry into a competition. This is clearly stated in the 2016 Competition Rules. There have
been a huge amount of enquiries regarding this.
5.
Referee Abuse – becoming a common theme in the latter part of the season. The TSM
program needs to be continually
educated throughout clubs’ teams as it’s currently
clearly not understood throughout the various competitions. TSM’s need to be clearly
identified at each game and need to ensure that they are actively controlling their
supporters.
6.
Sheep stations. Winning a competition is all well and good and should be celebrated
with a lot of hard work throughout the extended season going into it…but it needs to be
remembered that this is junior rugby and the development of the kids, both on and off the
field, is the key component of all of our roles. It’s clear that a large number of team officials
