This has been a huge success for us at RugbyWA Juniors and RugbyWA, with a huge increase in girls playing rugby in our state. This is a large focus for us in the coming years with it being the fastest growing sport in the world. Any club that is interested in creating a girls team and/or program can get in contact with me. RugbyWA have a number of resources than can be used to facilitate this Home Carnivals Total Games Away from Britannia U11 U12 U13 U14 U15 U17 Total 21 8 11 12 12 14 78 Total Games Away from Britannia 24 22 20 21 18 Number of Games 16 14 14 12 11 10 8 12 12 8 6 4 Note all games were played on Saturdays 2 0 U11 U12 U13 U14 U15 U17 Western Force Community Engagement A large part of the professional teams’ focus has been on giving back to the community that has given the team so much in the past. This has been pushed hard by all involved and so far has produced a large increase in Western Force player appearances at Junior Events. In total for 2016 we have had over 45 visits to clubs with more to come in the coming weeks. This will continue to be pushed so Clubs are encouraged to continue to request visits for any event they feel appropriate. What is it?  5 week program run at the club  A way to drive school kids to clubs  A chance for your club to gain 20 new rugby players What will participants receive?  Junior Force pack How will it be promoted?   Western Force Communication Plan (Facebook, twitter, EDM, Weekly Club Communication) Club Channels  School Visits When will the program start?    All clubs to begin week 8 Term 1 (5 weeks out from junior competition beginning) 6 clubs serviced in the first week of the program with a development staff member and Force players Over the first 3 weeks of the program all 18 clubs will have a visit from development staff and Western Force players. Incentives:    Club can pay players/volunteers to run the 5 week program ( Premier grade / colt player) Club can receive up to $400 (based on 20 participants signing up and club paying a presenter $20 per session) Incentivise Junior Force program participants sign up by discounting club fees by $20 or similar (this is just a suggestion) RugbyWA Juniors Competition – Key Issues Thus Far 1. Coaches not remaining in their Tech Zones during matches – Don’t risk your points, we all know the rules and why they are there 2. Rugbylink team input. Majority of clubs need a reminder to enter team lists post the stated timeline. The continuing increase in use of RugbyLink will cause this to be a significant problem. 3. Regrade points issues. Regraded teams receive the median points on the table in their entry into a competition. This is clearly stated in the 2016 Competition Rules. There have been a huge amount of enquiries regarding this. 5. Referee Abuse – becoming a common theme in the latter part of the season. The TSM program needs to be continually educated throughout clubs’ teams as it’s currently clearly not understood throughout the various competitions. TSM’s need to be clearly identified at each game and need to ensure that they are actively controlling their supporters. 6. Sheep stations. Winning a competition is all well and good and should be celebrated with a lot of hard work throughout the extended season going into it…but it needs to be remembered that this is junior rugby and the development of the kids, both on and off the field, is the key component of all of our roles. It’s clear that a large number of team officials Finals Venues • Preliminary Finals – Rockingham RUFC, 27/8/2016 McGillivray Oval, 27/8/2016 - U15 Gold & U14 Gold • Semi Finals – Perth Bayswater RUFC, 3/9/2016 • Grand Finals – Joondalup Brothers RUFC, 10/9/2016 McGillivray Oval, 18/9/2016 – U17 Gold • Finals Briefing will be on Monday the 22nd of August.
