اسلاید 3: Cheng was born in 1983 in Jiangxi, China. He received a bachelors degree in administration from Beijing University of Chemical Technology.After graduation, Cheng served as an assistant to a chairman at a foot massage company. About one year later, Cheng applied to join Alibaba as a sales person for its business-to-business e-commerce service in 2005.For six years at Alibaba, Cheng served as a sales manager for the northern region of China. He later moved to Chinas largest third-party online payment platform, Alipay, where he was soon promoted to the position of regional manager.In 2012, Cheng left Alibaba to found Beijing Xiaoju Technology Co and launch Didi Dache—translated to Beep Beep Call a Taxi—as the initial incarnation of his ride-hailing service.In 2014, Cheng hired Jean Liu (Liu Qing), a former Goldman Sachs Asia managing director, as the COO of the company.In February 2015, the company merged with its rival Kuaidi Dache and was renamed Didi Kuaidi (later renamed Didi Chuxing or “DiDi”).In August 2016, DiDi acquired all assets of the Chinese division of Uber.Since the company was founded in 2012, under the leadership of Cheng Wei and Jean Liu, DiDi has grown to become one of the world’s highest valued tech start-ups.

She is the daughter of Chinese businessman and Lenovo founder Liu Chuanzhi, and the granddaughter of Liu Gushu, a senior executive banker at the Bank of China. She received a bachelors degree in Computer Science at Peking University, and a masters degree in Computer Science at Harvard University. She received an honorary Doctor of Commercial Science from New York University.She worked at Goldman Sachs Asia for 12 years, becoming a managing director in 2012, before switching to Didi Dache serving as its chief operating officer in July 2014.Liu currently lives in Beijing with her family. In October 2015, Liu announced internally that she was being treated for breast cancer at the age of 37. In early December 2015, she posted on her Weibo that she would return to work by the end of December after a two-month treatment. According to DiDi, she is now fine and has been in all-in mode for quite some time. Liu is married and has three children. After being named one of the 50 Most Powerful Moms of 2016 by Working Mother, Liu spoke about how she balanced working for DiDi with her relationship with her three kids. In 2017, Liu was included on the annual Time 100 list of the most influential people in the world. She forced Uber out of the Chines market when she, and Cheng Wei, got Uber to sell its China operation.
