هدف از مهار آزمايشگاهي ویروس وحشي فلج اطفال. به حداقل .رساندن خطر انتقال ویروس از آزمایشگاه به جامعه است مواد بالقوه آلوده به ویروس وحشي فلج اطفال ۰ _مدفوع ترشحات تنفسي؛ فاضلاب محيطي و آب تصفیه نشده ذز هرزمان و در مناطق مشکوك. به وجود ویروس وحشي ( ویروس پوليوي مشتق از از واکسن). همچنین کشت سلولي ویروس وحشي ویا حیوانات آزمايشگاهي آلوده به ویروس شامل: نمونه هایی که هنوز برای ويروس فلج اطفال وسایر انتروویروس ها مورد آزمایش قرار تگرفته اند؛ نمونه های آزمایشگاهی آلوده به سایر ویروس ها بخصوص رینوویروس وانتروویروس ها ۰ مواد آلوده به ویروس وحشي فلج اطفال ۰ _نمونه‌هاي باليني با آلودگي تایید شده ویروس وحشي فلج اطفال (همچنین ویروس پوليوي مشتق از واکسن)» فاضلاب و آب آلوده به ویروس و مواد ناشي از تکثیر ویروس‌ها شامل: ‎٠»‏ ايزوله‌هاي کشت سلولي سويه‌هاي مرجعء بذرهای مورد استفاده جهت واکسن غیر فعال ‏۰ حیوانات آلوده ‏+ مشتقات تولید شده در آزمایشگاه که حاوي توللي كپسيدي ویروس وحشي باشند. ‏۰ 8۱۷۸ کاملیا 2000۸ که شاملتواليکپسيدي‌شتقاز ویروسوحشي‌اشند. ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎

In this regard, all the stored-specimens (infectious and potentially infectious materials) in the National Polio Laboratory were destroyed in August 2006.
